Plot

In the heart of suburban tranquility, five-year-old Janie Bennett leads an idyllic life with her doting foster parents, Miles and Sheri Bennett. Unbeknownst to her, the shadows of her past are lurking, as her birth mother, the tormented Andrea Fletcher, plots to reclaim her, aided by her carny boyfriend, Jude. Consumed by insanity but bound by maternal love, Andrea wavers in her mission to kidnap Janie. One fateful day, following a chilling premonition, Sheri rushes to Janie's school just in time to thwart Andrea's attempt to connect with her daughter. This temporary reprieve shatters when a car accident leaves Janie lost and vulnerable. Like a moth to the flame, she is drawn to the intoxicating lights of the carnival and into Jude's clutches. As Janie's safe world spirals into chaos, Sheri and Miles, now bereaved foster parents, find themselves plagued by terrifying nightmares and an inexplicable psychic connection to their missing child. Desperate and running out of time, they turn to an enigmatic parapsychologist. Using his unique skills, he becomes their beacon of hope, guiding them through their fears and dreams to unravel the ethereal bond with their foster daughter, and ultimately, to find her before the curtain falls on their worst fears. "The Premonition" (1976) is a chilling saga of love, madness, and the supernatural, where the line between dreams and reality blurs, and the fight for a child's life hangs in the balance of an uncanny psychic connection.
