In the sun-drenched, gritty streets of Los Angeles, a band of fresh-faced police recruits find themselves thrust into the raw underbelly of the city's life. Among them is Roy Fehler, a law student and family man, who enlists with the LAPD as a stopgap until his degree is completed. Fate throws him into partnership with Kilvinski, a seasoned patrolman who becomes Fehler's guide in this new and challenging world.
