Plot

In the heartwarming comedy-drama, "The Model and the Marriage Broker," we meet Mae Swasey, a notary by day, and clandestine marriage broker by night. With her office door subtly marked to conceal her true profession, Mae specializes in kindling love among those too shy or awkward to navigate romance on their own. As much a counselor as a matchmaker, Mae's mission is to unite these lonely hearts in matrimony. One such heart belongs to Matt Hornbeck, a handsome radiologist, unaware of Mae's matchmaking schemes. Mae's attempt to find him a partner leaves him disillusioned, opting for a life of bachelorhood. Meanwhile, Mae stumbles across Kitty Bennett, a department store model, young and beautiful but tragically entangled with a married man. Recognizing the signs of a doomed affair from her vast experience, Mae feels an instinctive urge to save Kitty. She crafts a twofold plan: to free Kitty from the clutches of her deceitful boyfriend, and to introduce her to the handsome, yet reluctant, bachelor Matt Hornbeck. But the road to love is rarely smooth. Mae's intricate scheme risks falling apart if Kitty discovers the truth about her profession, and Matt, once bitten, might not fall for Mae's tricks again, even if the bait is the irresistible Kitty. Simultaneously, Mae grapples with her own solitude. While she expertly orchestrates other people's love lives, she begins to question if she's missed her own chance at romance, her past littered with heartbreak. As the story unfolds, the audience witnesses the intriguing dynamics of love, manipulation, and the surprising revelation that there's a little bit of a marriage broker in all of us.
