Beneath the grime and grease of a humble car shop in Rotterdam, a quartet of beer-guzzling, cigarette-smoking mechanics grapple with a dire predicament. Their boss, also a dear comrade, is drowning under the weight of a crippling €40,000 tax debt. The once thriving garage, their sanctuary and livelihood, is hanging by a thread. Desperate, they rummage through a slew of unlikely solutions, but to no avail. Their final gambit lands them on an unconventional battlefield – a marathon. Despite their woefully out-of-shape bodies and lack of training, they rally behind a glimmer of hope.
