In the captivating heart of Paris, Bill Kirby, a suave opportunist living comfortably off his affluent aunt, publicly voices his wish for her demise. His dark sentiment catches the attention of Johann Radek, an impoverished yet ingenious medical student with a mind teetering on the edge of sanity.
