In the tumultuous twilight of the Ming Dynasty, the valiant and virtuous swordsman Lu Fang (Jimmy Wang Yu), returns from the frontlines to a shocking revelation: a group of poverty-stricken farmers have daringly abducted the only daughter of a tyrannical local magistrate. Awoken to their desperate plight, the harsh realities of their existence marred by abject poverty and oppressive taxation, Lu Fang finds himself aligning with their cause. The magistrate, clutching onto a critical petition from the townsfolk, furiously employs a motley crew of bandits, assassins, and the formidable fighter Huang Liang (Cheng Lui) to reclaim his daughter. As the tides of tension surge, Huang Liang recognizes the gallant Lu Fang from previous frontier encounters and decides to stand shoulder to shoulder with him against the onslaught of threats. However, the showdown takes a drastic turn when the magistrate sinisterly endangers a farmer's daughter's life, forcing Lu to nobly offer himself as the scapegoat to spare the innocent farmers. In a twist of fate, Lu discovers a web of deceit spun around him. With the aid of the magistrate's daughter (Chin Ping), a formidable fighter (Lo Lieh), and the loyal Huang Liang, Lu stages a daring escape and recovers the stolen petition. With courage in their hearts and justice on their side, our heroes embark on a crucial mission to ensure the petition reaches a superior authority, hoping to finally end the town's insufferable cycle of starvation, suffering, and unfair taxation.
