In the heart of the old West, freshly graduated Jerry Mason embarks on a journey to honor his late father's last wishes. Leaving the comforts of college behind, he ventures out to join Jake Benson, his father's former cattle business partner. Upon his arrival, Jerry discovers a penniless Jake, his cattle herded off by relentless rustlers, and a grand-daughter, Betty, who is Jake's sole beacon of hope in a bleak existence. Driven by determination and a will to survive, Jerry and Jake establish a blacksmith shop in the neighboring town. Fortune smiles upon them when they pry a gold-laden piece of quartz from a horse's hoof. This discovery leads them to a gold mine, marking the beginning of a prosperous new chapter. However, their joy is short-lived when Jake is wrongfully arrested for the attempted murder of a local banker, Williams, just after selling some gold. Jake's spirited granddaughter, Betty, arrives to live with him, only to find him missing. Jerry, driven by an unyielding sense of justice, finds the real culprit and secures Jake's freedom.
