In the desolate, frostbitten reaches of Northern Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a relentless American oil conglomerate, North Corporation, is ambitiously carving an ice road. Their goal? To unearth the untapped oil reserves buried beneath the pristine wilderness. Amidst the rising tensions between environmentalists and the base leader, Ed Pollack, a complex agreement is painstakingly brokered with the government, greenlighting the operation under strict protocols and meticulous reporting. However, as the drilling commences, the desolate Arctic begins to unleash its cold wrath. A team member is discovered lifeless and unclothed on the unforgiving snow, triggering a chilling series of events. The environmentalist, James Hoffman, suspects an accidental discharge of hallucinogenic gases from the drill site, inducing terrifying visions and driving the crew towards the brink of insanity. As a second bizarre incident claims another life, a creeping disorientation sweeps across the team, each member succumbing to an elusive, icy terror. Hoffman persuades the skeptical Ed Pollack to evacuate the team for medical examination. Yet, in spite of their desperate efforts, the death toll continues to rise. The Last Winter weaves a chilling tale of how the unforgiving Arctic wilderness and a mysterious fear conspire against human intrusion, pushing the boundaries of sanity and survival.
