Plot

In the opulent abode of the late Mrs. Cheyney, a grand charity event is unfolding, attracting the crème de la crème of society. Amidst the glittering throng, the enigmatic Fay, widow to a wealthy man, becomes the object of fascination for both the affluent, elderly Lord Elton and the dashing playboy, Lord Arthur Dilling. As the narrative shifts to the residence of Mrs. Webley, Fay once again ensnares the attention of Arthur and Elton, her allure intensifying for the somewhat pompous Elton. However, when Arthur spies Charles, Fay's seemingly unassuming butler, skulking in the shadows of the gardens, a memory stirs. Charles, he recalls, was a thief apprehended in Monte Carlo, a revelation that prompts him to suspect Fay's interest may not be in their company, but in Mrs. Webley's priceless pearls. Indeed, Fay does seize the pearls, but before she can dispose of them through the window, she is intercepted by a disenchanted Arthur, casting a pall of disappointment over the unfolding events. In the midst of elegance and opulence, secrets unravel, threatening to shatter the high society's veneer of perfection.
