The Go-Between (2015)

In the scorching summer of 1900, Leo Colston, a 12-year-old boy, finds himself amidst the opulence of the Maudsley family, courtesy of his schoolmate Marcus, in their sprawling Norfolk estate. When illness confines Marcus, Leo is drawn into the radiant aura of Marian, Marcus’s elder sister, a vision of glamour and allure, destined to marry Hugh Trimingham, a noble Boer War hero bearing war scars. Captivated by Marian, Leo unwittingly becomes the clandestine courier for her correspondence with Ted Burgess, a young local farmer. These letters, seemingly innocuous, carry more than just words, setting in motion a series of tragic events whose echoes Leo confronts when he crosses paths with Marian, half a century later. The Go-Between subtly explores the innocence of youth entangled in the complex web of love, deceit, and societal pressures.
