Plot

In the heart-stopping world of professional hockey, Tom Ferguson, the celebrated left wing of the Indians team, meets a tragic end during a game, the result of a so-called "accident" involving his own teammates, Dick Adams and Bill Drake. Unconvinced by the accident theory, Tom's brother Alec Ferguson journeys to New York, determined to uncover the sinister truth lurking beneath the ice. Assuming the identity of Steve Moreau, a fellow townsman unable to join the Indians due to injury, Alec infiltrates the team. He quickly uncovers a chilling revelation: the team has been purposely losing games under the command of a ruthless gambling ring. Amidst the chaos, Alec finds solace in the arms of Betty Holland, the beautiful daughter of the team's coach, Joe Holland. As the games continue, Alec learns that the team's owner, Rudy Maxwell, is the malevolent mastermind behind the gambling ring, holding Coach Holland in his vice-like grip through unpaid gambling debts. As suspicion grows amongst the public, reporter Sam Erskine suspects the games are rigged. Persuading Betty to join the Chronicle, he hopes to expose the corruption and protect her father's reputation. However, when Maxwell uncovers Alec's true identity, he orders Betty's abduction, manipulating Alec's actions on the rink to seal an Indians' defeat in a crucial match. This captivating movie, "The Game That Kills," weaves a twisted tale of betrayal, love, and the ruthless pursuit of power, set against the thrilling backdrop of professional hockey.
