In the quaint town of Soto Alto, 11-year-old Pakete, christened so after missing five penalty kicks in consecutive matches, finds solace in the world of soccer. Living with his parents, the football-enthusiast antiquarian Juana and patrol officer Emilio, as well as his older brother Victor, Pakete's life revolves around his school's soccer team, comprised of his closest friends and coached by the well-meaning but inept duo, Felipe and Alicia. The equilibrium of this world is disturbed when Helena, Pakete's secret crush, and a radiant beauty from his class, becomes a part of the team. Laura, the vice-principal of the school and mother to team member Anita, despises soccer and aims to replace the team with a children's chorus. Complicating matters further, Helena's parents are divorcing, and the team's success or failure could dictate who gets custody. The team's resolve is tested when a series of strange events occur during their games, with referees mysteriously falling asleep and the ill-mannered Gordillo stepping in, causing them to lose. With suspicions of foul play, Helena rallies the team in an abandoned house, igniting a quest to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, Pakete discovers that Toni, a teammate, is romantically involved with Helena, adding another layer of complexity to their mission. Entrusted with the task of investigating the turmoil in their soccer world, Pakete and his friends find themselves entangled in a perplexing web of deceit, with fingers pointed towards Laura's mother and the coach of rival team Islantilla, Chacón. Their journey to discover the truth and save their team becomes a rollercoaster ride of adventure, mystery, and intrigue, where the bonds of friendship and family turn out to be the grandest prize of all.
