Plot

In the gritty heart of 1855 England, a daring mastermind named Edward Pierce, portrayed by the charismatic Sir Sean Connery, plots a scheme of audacious proportions. His objective? To orchestrate the first-ever heist of a moving train. His quarry is no petty loot, but a monthly shipment of gold, a colossal twenty-five thousand pounds sterling, destined to aid British soldiers battling the Russians in the Crimea. Security is as tight as a drum, rendering the task seemingly impossible. The gold is securely tucked away in two robust Chubb safes, their locks demanding four separate keys for entry. The keys are scattered among the high echelons of the banking world, held by the bank's president, its senior manager, and the station master, who possesses the final two. Undeterred, Pierce assembles a team of skilled accomplices. Agar, portrayed by the enigmatic Donald Sutherland, and the beguiling Miriam, played by Lesley-Anne Down, join the ranks. Together, they weave a web of deception and cunning, their sights set on acquiring each key, one intricate scam after another. The keys are just the beginning. Once in possession, the group must then infiltrate the train's luggage compartment, extract the gold from the fortress-like safes, and slip away into the shadows, all while evading capture. Yet, Edward Pierce is no ordinary thief, and even the most detailed plans may go awry. Will his back-up plan save the day, or will their audacious plot unravel under the weight of its own ambition? As tension mounts and risks escalate, The First Great Train Robbery takes the audience on a thrilling journey through the underbelly of Victorian England, where audacious plans unfold, loyalties are tested, and the line between law and crime blurs in the quest for unimaginable riches.
