Plot

In the fallout of Napoleon's Waterloo defeat, the year 1817 sees the U.S Congress bestowing four Alabama territory townships to the exiled French officers and their families. Guided by the determined Colonel Georges Geraud and the stalwart General Paul DeMarchand, these displaced settlers steadily transform their townships into the thriving community of Demopolis by the time summer paints the sky in 1819. Amidst this blossoming society, a romantic encounter unfolds. A shopping trip to Mobile introduces Fleurette DeMarchand, General DeMarchand's enchanting daughter, to the charming Kentucky rifleman, John Breen. Love sparks instantly, and Breen, entranced by Fleurette's charm, reroutes his regiment through Demopolis, seeking to court her. However, the precarious circumstances of the French exiles complicate this budding love story. Blake Randolph, a man of immense wealth and unquenchable greed, yearns to claim both the prosperous Demopolis and the radiant Fleurette for himself. Fleurette is torn between her heart's longing and the pressing needs of her fellow settlers who are at the mercy of Randolph's manipulations. But John Breen, fierce in his love and courage, has no plans to surrender to Randolph's ambitions. He steps away from his regiment, ready to take up arms against the greedy land-grabber, igniting a battle for love, honor, and the fate of the French settlers in 1818 Alabama. The Fighting Kentuckian weaves a tale where love and duty clash amidst the backdrop of a fledgling society fighting for its survival.
