In the obscure corners of the USSR lies a town suspended in time, a veritable slice of 1950s Americana, where Russians masquerading as Americans form a curious facade for KGB trainees honing their infiltration skills. Amidst this carefully crafted illusion, a pressing concern looms for an ambitious KGB hotshot - his agents are trapped in a bygone era and failing to grasp the essence of contemporary American culture. In a daring move, he ventures to the bustling heart of New York, ensnaring Travis and Wendell, two unsuspecting hipsters with dreams of opening a nightclub in Nebraska. With a clever ruse and a drugged journey, the duo awakens in the Russian town, none the wiser, convinced they've landed in the Midwest. In this alien land that closely mirrors their home, they embark on their mission, transforming a lackluster tiki lounge into a vibrant hub of modern music and dance, inadvertently becoming cultural ambassadors and injecting a much-needed dose of pop culture into the town's stagnant veins. As they teach the locals to groove to new beats, they find themselves drawn to the local women, adding a touch of romance to their surreal adventure.
