Plot

In the vibrant chaos of World War II London, a passionate tale unfolds, swirling around the charismatic and legendary poet Dylan Thomas. The narrative pulsates with the lives of two free-spirited and exceptional women, Vera Phillips and Caitlin Thomas, both of whom are deeply connected to the poet. Vera, once a teenage flame of Dylan, reconnects with him a decade later in the city's bohemian underground. Now a sultry singer, she stumbles upon Dylan, who's immersed in crafting scripts for government propaganda films while being sustained by a string of smitten women. The spark between them reignites fiercely, yet Dylan is now entwined with the audacious Caitlin, his wife. Despite their shared affection for Dylan, an unexpected friendship blossoms between Vera and Caitlin. Caitlin, a woman who not only indulges in her own romantic detours but also acknowledges the adventurous spirit mirrored in her husband and his connection with Vera, which she understands is unique and perilous. As the story unfolds, Vera succumbs to the affections of her ardent admirer, William Killick, a handsome soldier played by Cillian Murphy. Yet, the undeniable chemistry between Vera and Dylan lingers, leading to a constant battle between her loyalty and desire. When William is dispatched abroad, a pregnant Vera retreats to the scenic Welsh countryside with her married friends. Upon his return, a transformed William finds Vera anything but the carefree, vivacious woman he married. Fueled by neighborhood gossip, jealousy consumes him, culminating in a violent confrontation with Dylan. This incident compels Vera to make a heart-wrenching choice between the two men in her life and her cherished friend, Caitlin. Set against the backdrop of beautiful London and the majestic Welsh countryside, The Edge of Love is a vivid portrayal of love, friendship, desire, and guilt, woven into a real-life tale that's as complex as it is captivating.
