The Diamond Arm (1969)

In the heart of the Soviet Union, the gentle but somewhat gullible Semyon Gorbunkov, a loving husband and father of two, embarks on an adventure of a lifetime. A well-deserved holiday cruise abroad takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself in the thrumming heart of a bustling Oriental city, flanked by his charismatic shipmate, Gennady. Their journey into the old town takes a sudden turn when Semyon suffers an accidental fall in front of an inconspicuous pharmacy, and Gennady mysteriously disappears. The supposed "pharmacy clerks" treat Semyon's wounded arm, encasing it in a cast that unbeknownst to him, hides a trove of smuggled jewels. Meanwhile, Gennady, a professional smuggler, arrives late to the scene and fakes a fall, only to discover that he has missed his chance to receive the glittering contraband. Upon their return to the USSR, Semyon finds himself the target of Gennady and his gang of sly smugglers, who are eager to retrieve their precious cargo. Despite his warnings to the authorities, it seems as if no action is taken. However, the police have a plan of their own. In a covert operation, they approach Semyon, persuading him to keep his jewel-stuffed cast and act as bait to ensnare the entire smuggling ring. Thus begins a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, with Semyon innocently caught in the middle. Unaware of the dangerous path he's about to tread, he steps into a world of intrigue and suspense, where smugglers and law enforcement are locked in a tense dance, each vying to outwit the other.
