Plot

In the heart of ancient China, the legendary military swordmaster, Wu Sung (Ti Lung), is accused of a sinister crime - the murder of his unfaithful sister-in-law and her lover. Unjustly exiled to the remote prison camp of Meng Chou, Wu's future looks grim until an unlikely ally emerges in the form of Shih En (Tien Ching), the compassionate son of the camp commander. Escaping the brutal humiliation of 100 bamboo lashes, Wu owes his reprieve to Shih En's intercession. The tranquillity of exile is shattered, however, when the relentless thug Chiang Chung (Chu Mu) brutally attacks Shih En, aiming to steal the precious wine cellar of the Delightful Forest - Shih's cherished restaurant. The honourable Wu Sung, compelled by a sense of duty and gratitude, steps out of the shadows to challenge the thug in a riveting duel. Despite Chiang Chung's notorious reputation as a formidable drunkard fighter, Wu emerges victorious. Chiang, however, is not easily humbled. Cunning and vindictive, he waits for Wu to drop his guard, exploiting his moment of vulnerability to exact a dishonourable revenge. Chiang's influence reaches deep into the political world, using treachery and manipulation to engineer Wu's downfall once again. Marked by exile for a second time, Wu Sung's spirit remains unbroken. He returns from the depths of disgrace, fuelled by a thirst for justice. As he steps back into the turmoil, he is determined to reclaim his honour and bring satisfaction to those wronged by Chiang's deceit. This captivating tale of honour and revenge, 'The Delightful Forest', weaves an intricate web of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption under the ancient Chinese skies.
