Plot

In the heart of the Miami projects, the satirical comedy "The Day Shall Come" unfolds, a biting commentary on power, ineptitude, and paranoia in the American justice system. At the center of this absurdist political drama is Moses Shabaz, an impoverished African American preacher who is as eccentric as he is naive. Moses dreams of revolution, not through violence, but through education and martial arts, striving to liberate the local youth from the chains of historical injustice. Moses, along with his devoted wife Venus, runs a mission where the primary weapons are words, not firearms. But when an unscrupulous stranger offers him cash for his "revolution", Moses is cornered, forced to walk the tightrope between his ideals and the harsh realities of life. He paints his congregation as an "army", and reluctantly consents to take guns, unaware that his newfound sponsor is an FBI informant, a pawn in a complex false flag operation to fuel the U.S.'s war on terror. This sinister game is orchestrated by the ambitious local FBI Station Chief Andy Mudd and his most promising agent, Kendra Glack. Kendra sees Moses' case as her ticket to promotion, and relentlessly pursues her quarry, a mouse oblivious to the cat's existence. In an escalating spiral of deception and misdirection, Moses unknowingly plays into Kendra's hands, reporting the FBI's own informant as a threat and falling for a setup involving fake nuclear weapons. The local police, ignorant of the fictitious nature of these "nukes" and their origin, trigger a national emergency. The narrative takes a wild turn as authorities chase their own shadows and Moses' family finds themselves encircled by a home-grown army. Despite being a vocal revolutionary, Moses is a man of peace at heart, a loyal citizen who becomes an unpredictable variable in the FBI's calculated operation. Based on a hundred true stories, "The Day Shall Come" is a darkly humorous exploration of the absurdity of the American justice system, masterfully weaving a tale of aspiration, manipulation, and the unintended consequences of paranoia.
