Plot

In the bewitching quiet of a clear, starlit night, the world becomes the front-row audience of an extraordinary celestial spectacle - a mesmerizing meteor shower. As the sky dances with luminescent meteorites, in a London hospital, Bill Masen lies with his eyes bandaged, robbed of the visual feast. The dawn brings with it a chilling silence; Bill, removing his bandages, steps into a world irrevocably altered. The stunning shower that held the world captive has rendered its spectators blind, leaving Bill as one of the few sighted survivors in a crumbling society. Amidst this disarray, Bill discovers and rescues a young sighted girl, and together they face the challenge of surviving in this unfamiliar, sightless world. But the meteors brought more than just blindness - they carried the seeds of an alien horror. The Triffids, otherworldly carnivorous plants with an insatiable appetite for human flesh, are now sprouting rampantly, making humans their prey. Unlike the novel's depiction of Triffids as mere experimental plants, the film unveils them as extraterrestrial beings, their spores having arrived in a previous meteor shower. As the world descends into chaos, Bill and his young companion must not only navigate the perils of a society plunged into darkness but also confront the terrifying onslaught of the Triffids. The once placid earth has become a battleground for survival, where mankind has to fend off not just the collapse of civilization, but a predatory alien species that threatens to consume them whole.
