Plot

In the vibrant and rebellious backdrop of the 1980s, where new wave angst intertwines with gender-bending fashion trends, we meet Chance Marquis. He is a gay teenager - confident, sharp-witted, outspoken, and refreshingly clear-headed - navigating his tumultuous first year at an international high school. As Chance forges friendships with an eclectic mix of personalities, he must also tackle the relentless attention of a joyless vice principal and a homophobic soccer jock who has made it his personal mission to torment Chance. At home, his widowed, career-army father seeks to understand his atypical children, while his perceptive younger sister has a knack for revealing Chance's deepest secrets. Amidst this chaos, Chance discovers a world of drag clubs, where he not only finds enjoyment but also unexpected success in a cross-dressing contest. However, a photograph from this event threatens to turn his school life into a living nightmare, testing the strength and depth of his newfound bonds. This is no ordinary high school tale; it's a journey that incorporates all the classic tropes - the clueless school faculty, well-intentioned but misguided parents, and an unexpected twist in the social hierarchy. "The Curiosity of Chance" is an intriguing exploration of identity, friendship, and the courage to be different in a world that demands conformity. It's a story about finding help in the unlikeliest of places - from a flamboyant drag queen to a varsity jock. It's a story about Chance.
