Plot

On the run, severely wounded, and with the relentless grip of the law tightening around him, Lin Vanner seeks sanctuary within the peaceful confines of a priest's abode, spilling his tormented tale. Once a dedicated worker in the Mexican oil fields, Vanner's life spirals into chaos after he apprehends a man accused of a devastating payroll theft. But when the suspect meets an untimely end in police custody, Vanner's guilt comes crashing down on him like a merciless wave. The incident doesn't just cost Vanner his job; it shatters his engagement, leaving him isolated and desolate. However, rather than wallowing in self-pity, he finds himself drawn to the grieving widow of the deceased man. In an attempt to atone for his perceived sins, he finds solace tending to her ranch, an act of redemption that becomes his new purpose in life. But as Vanner confides in the priest, he realizes that his past is an unrelenting shadow, rapidly closing in on his newfound peace. His story is a relentless journey of guilt, redemption, and a desperate quest for a second chance, painting a gripping portrait of a man haunted by his past and hunted by his present.
