Amidst the humdrum of her solitary existence, Ann, a seasoned entomologist with a peculiar obsession for butterflies, finds her life taking an unexpected turn when she encounters the eerily enchanting Alice at a local mall. Despite her battle with bipolar disorder and the shadows of a troubled past that include a severed relationship with her daughter, Dorothy, Ann finds herself drawn towards Alice's disquieting innocence.
