Plot

In the world of mountain road racing, the thrill of the chase propels two fierce competitors, Nakazato and Takahashi, on a quest to identify and conquer the ultimate racers in adrenaline-fueled "battles". When Nakazato's seemingly invincible reign is shattered one fateful night by an unassuming Toyota Trueno AE86, his curiosity leads him to the Speedstars, a local racing team. However, the true driver who dethroned him is none other than Takumi Fujiwara, a local Tofu shop owner's son. Unbeknownst to him, Takumi's daily tofu deliveries have honed his mountain racing skills to perfection. When Nakazato challenges Takumi once more, the young delivery boy proves his initial victory was no accident. Yet, triumph on the racing track doesn't translate to success at home, where his father, Bunta, a racing prodigy turned alcoholic, resides. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Natsuki craves his attention, despite harboring a dark secret, and his friend Itsuki, devoid of any driving talent, yearns for Takumi's guidance after a misguided car purchase. Their lives take a sudden turn when they cross paths with Team Emperor's menacing Mitsubishi Evo. Against all odds, Takumi, steering his vintage vehicle, triumphs, inciting the fury of Sudou, Team Emperor's headstrong leader. A high-stakes face-off pushes Takumi and his AE86 to their limits, resulting in a catastrophic engine failure. But, in the face of adversity, Takahashi steps in, and with Bunta's assistance, they resurrect the AE86, now boasting a genuine racing engine. A thrilling three-way showdown looms on the horizon, featuring Takahashi, Fujiwara, and Sudou. With their reputations and pride on the line, who will emerge as the ultimate road racing champion?
