Plot

Set in the heart of Mexico, "The Brave One" spins the tale of an extraordinary bull named Gitano, or Gypsy, who forms an unlikely bond with a young Mexican boy, Michael Ray. Their friendship blossoms after Michael saves Gitano from a fierce storm, a heroic act that forever intertwines their fates. However, this bond is soon challenged when Gitano's legal owners reclaim him, sending the brave bull into the perilous world of the bullring. Despite the young boy's desperate pleas, Gitano is dispatched to the Plaza de Mexico in Mexico City, where he must face the formidable matador Fermin Rivera. Amidst the turmoil, the President of Mexico, moved by the boy's unwavering loyalty to the bull, grants Gitano a pardon. Yet, the wheels of bureaucracy turn too slowly to spare Gitano from his impending clash in the bullring. "The Brave One" is an evocative tale based on true events that won an Academy Award for Best Story. Intriguingly, the award was presented to Robert Rich, who was later revealed to be the blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, sparking both controversy and delight. This emotionally charged film serves as a testament to the power of friendship and the indomitable spirit of one brave bull.
