Plot

Set in the pulsating heart of São Paulo, we meet 15-year-old Hermano "Mano" and his emotionally sensitive 17-year-old brother, Pedro. Their lives, once cushioned by the comforts of middle-class normality, crumble when their father, Horácio, leaves their mother, Camila, shattering their family unit. Mano, in the throes of adolescence, yearns for Valéria, a free-spirited classmate — his own uncharted journey into the world of love. Simultaneously, Pedro weaves a tapestry of romantic dreams around Bia, a girl to whom he's pledged his heart entirely. Their lives take another jolt when they discover their father's secret: he's gay and romantically involved with Gustavo, his trusted confidante. The revelation leaves the brothers grappling with their altered reality. In the backdrop, we have Mano's best friend, Carol, nursing a crush on their charismatic Physics teacher, Artur. They share private worlds, unspoken feelings, and guarded secrets. Meanwhile, their elite high-school life teeters on the edge of chaos under the watchful eye of the notorious "Blog of Dri Novaes", a digital gossip mill run by a prying classmate. When Carol and Artur's lives intersect in an unexpected kiss at a local cafeteria, a new wave of complexity washes over their lives. 'The Best Things in the World' is a vivid exploration of teenage angst, love, and the relentless pursuit of identity amidst life's unpredictable turns.
