In the bustling world of finance, Charles Chaplin is situated at the bottom rung as a janitor in a renowned bank. His heart throbs for a beautiful stenographer, whose affections he yearns for, despite the stark contrast of their positions. One day, a necktie adorning her desk—an apparent gift with a note reading "To Charlie, With Love"—kindles a flicker of hope in his heart. Believing he is the intended recipient, Chaplin, in a surge of joy, purchases a bouquet of flowers for the stenographer, intending to reciprocate her gesture.
However, a comedic twist of fate ensues when the intended Charlie, who happens to be the bank's cashier, receives the necktie and thanks the stenographer. A mix-up follows as the stenographer, under the impression that the flowers are from the cashier, discards them in the waste basket, shattering Chaplin's heart. He retreats to the basement of the bank to nurse his heartbreak, eventually succumbing to slumber.
In the realm of dreams, Chaplin encounters a thrilling bank heist. The cashier, paralyzed with fear, hides under a desk, while Chaplin bravely confronts the robbers.
