Plot

In the heart of a Bosnian forest in 1993, the tale begins as a woman gives birth to a baby boy, before the narrative leaps to 2007, inside the walls of a Sarajevo orphanage. Here resides our protagonist, a thirteen-year-old boy named Alen. He's fed a story by the former director, Gago, who tells him his parents were war correspondents, one French, one English, who left him temporarily due to the perils of war and their professional duties. With this hope instilled, Alen pens heartfelt letters to his mother in France, entrusted to his caregiver, Cica. Yet, these letters find their home not in a postbox, but in a drawer, as there's no one to receive them in reality. The narrative takes a turn with the arrival of Mirza, a young and dedicated director, determined to genuinely assist these orphaned children. Alongside this, a parallel storyline unveils itself at a shop adjacent to the orphanage, owned by Sento, a notorious criminal. He exploits the orphanage children, coercing them to pilfer expensive items. Following a botched robbery, the police initiate an investigation, and fear grips Alen. His only escape seems to be reaching his files, which hold the address of his supposed mother, leading him to contemplate fleeing the orphanage to seek the comfort of a family he believes awaits him. The plot unfolds as Alen embarks on this desperate quest, navigating a world of deceit, crime, and hope.
