Plot

In the year 1845, the audacious Sam Hollis and his quipping native Indian companion, Kronk, embark on a perilous journey across the untamed landscapes of Texas. They travel without the protection of the US Cavalry, which denies them any guides due to Texas not being a part of the union, leaving them exposed to the dangers of the Comanche Indian territory. Meanwhile, in Shreveport, the gallant Spaniard, Don Andrea Baldasar, finds his wedding to the enchanting southern belle Phoebe Ann Naylor abruptly halted by the Cavalry, who suspect him of a heinous crime—murdering an officer, who was Phoebe Ann's former fiancé, Yancy Cottle. Eluding the Cavalry, Baldasar rendezvous with Hollis on the border river between Louisiana and Texas. They form an unlikely alliance, each seeking refuge and opportunity in the untamed land of Texas. Their partnership, however, is a tenuous one, strained by their cultural differences and their affections for the same woman—Phoebe Ann. The situation grows more complex as they fend off both the relentless pursuit by the Cavalry and the looming threat of the Comanches. Their journey takes a dramatic turn with the introduction of two women. The first is the brave Comanche squaw, Lonetta, who goes to great lengths to protect Baldasar, who she has taken under her wing. The second is the captivating Phoebe Ann, who unknowingly captures Hollis's heart, further complicating his relationship with Baldasar. In a land where honor and survival are intertwined, the trio must navigate through a web of rivalry, romance, and redemption. As they reach the town of Moccasin Flats, destiny awaits them. Amidst the celebration of Texas's statehood, they must face their past, save the town, and determine who wins the heart of the spirited Phoebe Ann. Texas Across the River is a wild, romantic, and thrilling journey through the untamed heart of America.
