Teacher's Pet (2004)

In the heart of the 4th grade class presided over by Mrs. Mary Lou Helperman, an uncommon student, Leonard, shares an extraordinary secret with their family pet, Spot. Behind Spot's canine façade exists a brilliant student, Scott, who is nothing less than Mrs. Helperman's star pupil. This unusual dynamic is disrupted when Mrs. Helperman is nominated for a prestigious teaching award, leading to a planned trip to sunny Florida. The journey, however, calls for Spot to be left behind, a notion he resists with every fibre of his being. Spot's dream of experiencing life as a human boy appears to be within his grasp when the eccentric scientist Ivan Krank makes a promising claim on the Barry Anger show: He can transform animals into humans. Seizing this opportunity, Spot, as Scott, persuades Mrs. Helperman to take him along to Florida, conveniently housing Krank's lab just around the corner from their accommodation. Spot undergoes the transformation, becoming man's best friend in an entirely new way. However, he soon learns that this new life may not be the paradise he had envisioned, teaching him that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
