Set against the picturesque backdrop of Bora Bora in the South Pacific, F.W. Murnau's final film, "Tabu" weaves a poignant tale of young love tested by the inexorable forces of tradition and fate. Matahi, a vivacious young fisherman, and Reri, his radiant beloved, find their tranquil existence shattered when the ancient warrior deems Reri as the Chosen Maid, imposing a sacred "tabu" that forbids any man to lay his eyes on her.
