In the sun-drenched realm of Malibu, Steve Addington reigns supreme as the world's most esteemed surfer, embodying the quintessence of cool with his laid-back, barefoot lifestyle, perpetually washed in the intoxicating aroma of the sea and surf wax. His free-spirited existence is funded by a cache of surfboard and swimwear endorsements, paid in untraceable cash. However, the tide turns when his endorsement contract is snapped up by Eddie Zarno, a one-time wave rider turned shrewd entrepreneur. Eddie's vision to digitize Steve's legendary moves into an immersive virtual reality game clashes with Steve's simplistic desires - to ride the waves and live the surfer's dream. As Eddie relentlessly lobbies for Steve's acquiescence, the usually energetic Pacific Ocean unexpectedly falls into an uncharacteristic slumber, its waves disappearing for days on end. Amid this disquieting calm, Steve finds himself drawn to Danni, a recent casualty of Zarno's cutthroat business strategies.
