Plot

In the heart of Barcelona's high society, the elegant Anabel lives a life of contentment alongside her businessman husband, Bernabé, and their daughter, Greta. During a lavish dinner party, however, her world shifts as she encounters Chiara, a member of her household staff who is, in fact, her estranged daughter from a previous marriage. Chiara, after vanishing from Anabel's life for thirty years, unveils her true identity and makes an unusual request: to spend ten days together, just the two of them. Despite a failed attempt to sway Chiara with money, Anabel finds herself reluctantly agreeing to this proposition. The duo retreats to a secluded house nestled in the serene French Pyrenees, a place steeped in memories from Anabel's past and the last home she shared with Chiara's father. These ten days are filled with uncomfortable silences and strained interactions, with Anabel grasping for the reason behind Chiara's peculiar request and Chiara guarding her secrets with an impenetrable silence. As the days unfold, Anabel finds herself caught in a whirlwind of her past and present, attempting to bridge the chasm between herself and her daughter. However, the tranquil atmosphere of their retreat shatters when Chiara finally unveils her true intentions, leaving Anabel off-guard with a new, startling request. 'Sunday's Illness' promises a poignant exploration of mother-daughter relationships, secrets, and the haunting echoes of the past.
