Plot

In the bustle of New York City, Julie Messinger appears to have it all - a comfortable life as a housewife, a husband, Richard, who edits for a prestigious photography magazine, and a close-knit group of friends. This circle includes the well-intentioned but bumbling Dr. Timothy Spector, talented photographer Cal Whiting and his live-in girlfriend Miranda. Julie's mother, obsessed with appearances, fills her days with beauty treatments and shopping sprees while constantly criticizing Julie's looks and lifestyle. However, Julie's world takes an unexpected turn when Richard checks into the hospital for a simple mole-removal procedure. Complications ensue and Richard slips into a coma, attributed to a rare surgical anomaly. As Julie grapples with hospital bureaucracy and inept doctors, she rallies her friends and family in a humorously unconventional gathering at the hospital's blood donation center. Amid the chaos, Julie stumbles upon Richard's "little black book," a secret directory of their mutual friends. To her shock, she realizes Richard's infidelity with their circle of friends. In retaliation, Julie decides to turn the tables, initiating affairs with Richard's male friends. As Richard's condition worsens, Julie wrestles with guilt, a feeling that paradoxically paves the way for her emergence as an independent woman. "Such Good Friends" serves as a biting and hilariously raw exploration of high society's frivolous revelry against the sobering backdrop of near-death.
