Submerged (2005)

In the heart of a military prison, Chris Cody, a renowned mercenary, is serving time for daring to avert a catastrophic terrorist attack on American soil — a threat dismissed by the United Nations. Cody’s transgressions, though committed for the greater good, have branded him a criminal. Meanwhile, a horrifying scene unfolds at the U.S. Embassy in Montevideo, Uruguay, where Secret Service agents, seemingly possessed, murder the ambassador and then themselves. This shocking incident draws the attention of Dr. Chappell, a shrewd intelligence analyst in Washington DC, who surmises a sinister mind-control device at play. His deduction propels a Delta Force commando team to Uruguay, only for them to be ambushed and captured, their minds enslaved by the malevolent Dr. Adrian Lehder. A renegade scientist, Lehder leads a covert CIA mind-control experiment, programming soldiers into ruthless killing automatons at the whim of a command. In a desperate bid to dismantle Lehder’s deadly operation, the Navy turns to the imprisoned Cody and his team. Joined by Chappell and Special Agent Fletcher, they embark on a perilous mission to destroy Lehder's facility. The promise of freedom, exoneration, and a hefty reward lures Cody into this dangerous gambit. However, Cody soon uncovers Fletcher’s treachery, unmasking him as a double agent in cahoots with Lehder. In the wake of Fletcher’s betrayal, the facility is quickly deserted, leaving behind American prisoners programmed for murder. As one team commandeers a submarine, others secure the base and liberate the captives. Amidst a hailstorm of bullets and the rumbling terror of a tank, they obliterate the base, escaping aboard the stolen sub. But their escape is far from smooth as they find themselves trapped with the mind-controlled soldiers. Surviving a claustrophobic battle beneath the waves, Cody and his crew realize they must race against the clock to halt Lehder, before his army of mindlessly obedient soldiers wreaks havoc. Submerged is a thrilling dive into a world where friends become foes, and the mind becomes the deadliest weapon.
