In the tumultuous year of 1844, the canvas of Europe is stained with oppression, hunger, and violence. Amidst this chaos, young and beautiful Emilia "Mila" Hofmann, a resilient weaver, witnesses the tragic end of her husband Matthias, executed for poaching.
