Plot

In the gritty underbelly of the city, a baffling case of a woman found petrified and carbonized in a warehouse falls into the hands of hard-boiled Police Detective Stella Murphy. Recently mended from her emotional scars and back to the force, she is caught off guard when her ex-husband and police chief Jake assigns her to the case. With their shared past tainted by the heartrending loss of their only child, Stella must navigate the murky waters of personal and professional boundaries. The charred remains are identified as Kyoko, leading Stella to her grieving family — her mother, Seiko, and her teenaged daughter, Noriko. Stella is quickly drawn into their world, forming an unexpected bond with Noriko, an orphaned teenager grappling with her mother's sudden and horrifying demise. Amidst the chaos, Stella uncovers a secret that plunges her deeper into the mystery — Kyoko's family possesses a clandestine supernatural power, and they're being hunted by a shadowy figure on a motorbike. Together, Stella and Noriko embark on a relentless pursuit of the truth, delving into the eerie supernatural forces that surround Kyoko's murder. As the detective and the orphaned teen uncover more about the menacing threat that looms over the family, they must face their own fears and explore the boundaries of their newfound friendship. Stray is a haunting tale of loss, courage, and the untamed power of the supernatural, all interwoven in a chilling investigation that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
