Plot

In the shadowy heart of New York, recently divorced psychiatrist, Dr. Sam Rice, navigates through the mysteries of the human mind, a legacy inherited from his esteemed psychiatrist mother, Grace. His tranquil world is shattered when one of his patients, George Bynum, an antiquities dealer at the renowned Crispins Auction House, is found gruesomely stabbed to death. This ignites an intricate dance with homicide detective Joseph Vitucci, who believes that the key to solving the murder lies hidden within the labyrinth of Sam's confidential therapy sessions with Bynum. As Sam struggles to maintain the sanctity of his therapist-patient relationship, he is plunged deeper into the enigma when Brooke Reynolds, Bynum's captivating assistant and clandestine lover, emerges from the shadows. She entrusts Sam with a task that binds their lives together—returning Bynum's watch to his oblivious wife. While Brooke's allure draws Sam towards her, the secrets she holds raise a bevy of alarming questions. Immersed in a psychological whirlwind, Sam and Grace delve into Bynum's transcripts, attempting to unravel the complex threads of the murder mystery. The deeper Sam ventures into this labyrinth, the more he becomes ensnared by Brooke's enigmatic charm, even as her behavior grows increasingly suspicious. The chilling realization dawns on Sam that Brooke might not only be the mysterious killer mentioned in Bynum's therapy sessions, but she could also be the one behind Bynum's murder, and now, she may be closing in on him. As Sam grapples with his burgeoning affection for Brooke and the disquieting suspicion that she could be a lethal threat, he teeters on a dangerous precipice. The closer he inches towards the truth, the more he risks his own life, caught in an eerie still of the night where love and fear blur into a deadly dance on the edge of sanity.
