Plot

In the glimmering, yet savage landscape of Hollywood, resides Sarah Walker, a waitress at Big Taters with a burning ambition to be a celebrated actress. Plagued by a hair-pulling disorder, Sarah is caught in a web of aspirations and anxieties. Disregarding her mundane job and boss Carl, she clings to the belief that her stint as a waitress is merely a stepping stone to the stardom she seeks. Sarah's life is further complicated by her roommate Tracy, who doesn't hesitate to reveal Sarah's secrets to their self-absorbed circle of friends, including the spiteful Erin, who thrives on belittling Sarah and snatching away her acting opportunities. Sarah's life takes a turn when she is invited to audition for a film called The Silver Screen by the enigmatic production company, Astraeus Pictures. Her performance elicits no reaction, leaving her distraught. In a fit of despair, she has a breakdown in the restroom. This display of raw emotion catches the attention of the casting director, who asks her to replicate her outburst. Sarah is then subjected to another audition with the producer, who hints at a carnal exchange for a shot at fame. Initially refusing, her unyielding desire for success eventually leads her back to him. Following this, Sarah begins to experience a terrifying metamorphosis, as her body deteriorates and she is driven to a horrifying realization - to fully transform and achieve fame, she must eliminate her friends. As Sarah stands on the precipice of ambition and morality, the question remains - what lengths will she go to in pursuit of stardom? In Starry Eyes, ambition, transformation, and the grim underbelly of Hollywood fame converge in a chilling narrative of a dream turned nightmare.
