Spiders (2013)

In the quiet void of space, a deactivated Soviet space station becomes ground zero for a savage meteor shower. The celestial bombardment sends fragments and debris plummeting towards Earth, specifically Manhattan, where they pierce the concrete shell of the city and crash into the labyrinthine subway tunnel beneath Noble Street Station. Jason Cole, an earnest traffic controller, dispatches his colleague Jimmy to investigate the damage, but Jimmy is found dead, his body home to alien eggs and a mysterious bite mark. Jason, suspecting something extraordinary, takes one of the eggs to his estranged wife, Rachel, a scientist. Meanwhile, in the shadowy recesses of the subway, a macabre discovery is made—a nest of ferocious, carnivorous spiders, their genetic makeup twisted by the zero-gravity environment of space. These are not ordinary arachnids. They are a weapon, a special breed designed to forge a powerful nest for military purposes. Simultaneously, Col. Jenkins and Russian scientist Dr. Darnoff unveil their sinister plans revolving around these cosmic arachnids. They need the queen's egg that Jason gave to Rachel. To maintain their secret, they fabricate a deadly virus scare in the area where Jimmy was killed, hunting Jason and his family under the guise of quarantine. As an unstoppable swarm of mutant spiders threatens to engulf the city, Jason and Rachel must formulate a strategy to counteract the invasion. But the ticking time bomb is the gargantuan spider queen, hidden in her cobwebbed lair beneath the city, continuously laying eggs. If she and her venomous star-born minions infiltrate the concrete urban maze, the city will be lost. As Col. Jenkins and Dr. Darnoff raise the queen to execute their dark plans, the question remains: will they succeed, or will Jason and Rachel save their city from the creeping terror?
