Plot

In the comedic whirlwind that is "Sons of the Desert," Stan and Ollie, two lodge members, find themselves tangled in a web of white lies and slapstick mishaps. Everything kicks off when the Exalted Ruler of their local lodge insists on their attendance at the annual convention in Chicago. The challenge? Convincing their wives to let them embark on this escapade. Stan, surprisingly, navigates this hurdle with little trouble. Ollie, however, must conjure up a more elaborate ruse. Feigning illness, he enlists the assistance of an unsuspecting veterinarian disguised as a doctor, who prescribes a restorative cruise to Hawaii. Delighted by their successful deception, the duo set off to Chicago, their ukuleles echoing with the promise of adventure. Their plan, however, goes awry when the ship they were allegedly sailing on meets a watery end. Unbeknownst to them, their wives stumble upon a newsreel showcasing the convention parade. The stars of the show? None other than their supposedly sea-bound husbands. The boys return home, leis around their necks, only to be confronted by their less than amused wives. Their tale of 'ship-hiking' back home does little to melt the ice that has formed around their wives' hearts. In the end, it's a madcap scramble to keep their secrets afloat in this hilarious rollercoaster of a film, where every twist and turn is as unpredictable as the last.
