Snowball Express (1972)

In the pulsating heart of New York City, Johnny Baxter finds his life stagnating in a monotonous job as an accounting clerk at an insurance company. Amidst the emotional and financial strain, a glimmer of hope emerges when he inherits the Grand Imperial Hotel, a seemingly profitable 25-room establishment nestled in the breathtaking mountains of Silver Hill, Colorado. Seizing this unexpected opportunity, Johnny uproots his family - his wife Sue and their teenage children, Chris and Richard - and embarks on a journey to a new life. Upon their winter arrival in Silver Hill, however, the Baxters are greeted by a grim reality. With all their savings depleted on legal fees and relocation costs, the Baxters are forced to navigate the crumbling building without funds for even the most basic repairs. He decides to transform the hotel into a vibrant ski lodge and develop the mountain into a bustling ski run. Simultaneously, the family's persistence is tested by Martin Ridgeway, the local banker, who is hell-bent on purchasing the hotel. His relentless attempts to sabotage their efforts only strengthen the Baxters' resolve. As they struggle against Ridgeway's machinations and their own inexperience, the Baxters find themselves entwined in a captivating journey of resilience and adventure. Unbeknownst to them, the key to their survival and the truth behind Ridgeway's obsession with the hotel might be inexplicably intertwined.
