Cliffhanger (1993)

Gabriel Walker is questioning whether he wants to continue working as a rescue climber after the death of a close friend — but he reluctantly agrees to help save a group of civilians trapped on the Rocky Mountains. The first issue is that they're trapped in the same place where his best friend died eight months ago. The second issue is that the alleged civilians are actually robbers looking to recover the money they lost over the Rocky Mountains. There are hundreds of millions of dollars in three suitcases, but none of them will be able to spend it if they die.
