Better Off Dead... (1985)

Semi-dweeb Lane Meyer is devastated when his girlfriend Beth dumps him for Roy, the captain of the ski team. Following several, thankfully, unsuccessful attempts to end it all, continuous confrontations with a menacing paperboy and dinners with his wacky family that come close to meeting the dictionary definition for torture, love returns to Lane’s heart as he falls for a French exchange student named Monique Junot. But, with his honor tarnished, he soon focuses his energies back on defeating Roy on the slopes.
