In the hushed chill of early spring, Alex Hughes, a British ex-convict and habitual loner, sets foot onto the snow-sprinkled tarmac of Timmins Airport, Northern Ontario. His journey, however, is far from over. He is bound for Winnipeg, intending to meet an old friend. His plans take an unexpected detour when he finds himself stranded in Wawa, a quaint town nestled on the northern shore of Lake Superior.
