Plot

In the pulsating heart of Atlantic City, under the electric glare of a high-stakes heavyweight boxing match, the unthinkable happens. Charles Kirkland, the Secretary of Defence, is suddenly felled by an assassin's bullet, his demise witnessed by an enthralled crowd of 14,000. At the epicentre of this chilling spectacle is Rick Santoro, a flamboyantly corrupt homicide detective with grand political ambitions and a knack for threading his way through the city's shadowy underbelly. As the shockwaves of the assassination ripple through the arena, Santoro finds himself entangled in a deadly conspiracy that reaches into the corridors of power. His childhood friend, the unimpeachable U.S. Navy Commander Kevin Dunne, is poised to bear the brunt of the fallout, his reputation careening towards ruin. Tied to the unfolding drama is a tantalising enigma - a mysterious woman in white whose whispers to the Secretary moments before his death hint at a plot far more sinister than it appears. As the investigating officer, Santoro must navigate a labyrinth of deception and betrayal, racing against time to piece together a jigsaw of startling revelations. The conspiracy – as diabolical as it is shocking – threatens to shatter his world, but the true revelation is the identity of the puppet master pulling the strings. As Santoro delves deeper into the darkness, he is drawn into a high-stakes game where the line between friend and foe blurs and every revelation stirs the stormy waters of a city poised on the brink of chaos.
