Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice (2002)

In the frosty wake of their glory days, the Charlestown Chiefs, Pennsylvania's rough-and-tumble minor league ice hockey team, find themselves struggling to recapture the spark of their heyday from Slap Shot (1977). A quarter of a century on, the Chiefs, now featuring the original Hanson Brothers, remain lost in the ice, their dreams of progress frozen by season after disappointing season. Their fortunes take a jarring turn when the team falls into the hands of Richmond Claremont, a media baron with a taste for corruption and theatrical humiliation. Claremont views the unruly 'Super Chiefs' as the ideal pawns in a grizzled game of hockey humiliation, setting them up as underdogs against the haughty Omaha IceBreakers, a team that echoes the showmanship of the Harlem Globetrotters. But the puck doesn't stop there. The Chiefs' roster undergoes a seismic shift as the reins of leadership are wrested from the hands of disgraced former NHL player/coach, Sean Linden. Stepping onto the icy coaching rink is Jessie Dage, a woman with the heart of a champion and the will to transform the Chiefs. As the Chiefs lace up their skates and brace for the games ahead, they must confront their tarnished past and an uncertain future. Will they reclaim their dignity and rise to the occasion, or will this season be the final whistle for the once-revered Charlestown Chiefs? Only the ice will tell.
