Plot

Jesse Rainfeather Goldman, a young Lakota Sioux by birth, finds himself nurtured in the affluence of Beverly Hills, adopted by a prosperous Jewish couple. His upbringing leaves him estranged from his Native American heritage, a void filled with uncertainty and unexplored traditions. As a medical intern, Jesse's life takes an unexpected turn when he receives an enigmatic amulet, a silent call from his biological mother from the Lakota reservation in Sioux City. Driven by curiosity and a longing for connection, Jesse embarks on a journey back to his roots, only to reach his mother's charred home, her life extinguished in a mysterious fire and a bullet. Despite the local police captain and his assistant's hostile reception and a near-fatal assault, Jesse remains undeterred, his quest for truth unquenchable. Rescued by his grandfather, a revered shaman, and a compassionate Lakota woman, Jesse finds solace and healing. As he delves deeper into the customs of his tribe, he finds himself on a spiritual voyage, guided by his mother's spirit towards the puzzle's solution. His newfound understanding of his heritage and his mother's guidance lead him to the thrilling climax, as he unravels the mystery that has shrouded his mother's untimely demise.
