Plot

As 1993 draws to a close, Canadian General Romeo Dallaire finds himself tasked with leading United Nations troops in the heart of Rwanda. This film adaptation of Dallaire's harrowing autobiography, Shake Hands with the Devil, plunges us into the maelstrom of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, an abyssal vortex where humanity and cruelty are at war. General Dallaire, braced against the storm, musters every resource and ounce of resolve to support the beleaguered people of Rwanda. He navigates treacherous negotiations with Tutsi rebels, the Hutu army, and the ruthless Interhamwe militia in a desperate attempt to curb the escalating violence. Yet, he is caught in a soul-crushing struggle against the grinding gears of bureaucracy and the apathy of an indifferent world. As the genocide unfurls its monstrous wings, Dallaire's pleas for aid echo hauntingly through the sterile chambers of the United Nations. His agonizing journey reveals a chilling portrait of the West World's indifference, with even the USA turning its back on Rwanda in the UN's security council. Shake Hands with the Devil is a gripping narrative of one man's undying commitment in the face of heart-wrenching atrocities and global indifference. It exposes the world's horrifying disregard for one of the darkest chapters in human history, leaving viewers to question the true value of humanity in a world that can turn a blind eye to such despair.
