Séance (2006)

Over the tranquil Thanksgiving holiday, the ancient Chelsea building in Manhattan, now a college dormitory, is virtually deserted. Only five students remain, their presence echoing in the vast corridors. Among them are roommates Lauren, Melina, and Alison, accompanied by Alison's boyfriend, Diego, and Grant, a solitude-loving student from down the hall. Lauren, a girl with an uncanny sense for the unseen, insists that their bathroom is haunted by the spectral figure of a little girl. Her roommates greet her claims with scepticism, dismissing her visions as mere figments of imagination. However, Grant, their hallway neighbour, validates Lauren's fears with a chilling tale. He speaks of Cara Furia, a young Italian immigrant who once lived in the building and met a tragic death in the building's elevator shaft. Diego, intrigued by the supernatural and a scholar of parapsychology, decides to transform their peaceful holiday into a thrilling night of adventure. He convinces the group to hold a séance, intending to summon the spirit of the innocent Cara Furia. However, their well-intended experiment spirals into chaos. Instead of invoking Cara's spirit, they unwittingly awaken an ancient malevolent entity, Spencer, whose past is entwined with the building's dark history. As the once serene dormitory transforms into a stage for the supernatural, their night of fun mutates into a nightmare. Their only hope lies in Syd, an aging campus security guard, who is their solitary defender in the face of the unfolding terror. The silent ghostly girl holds secrets, and it's up to Alison to uncover them before the haunting escalates beyond their control. Will they survive the weekend, or will they become permanent residents of the haunted Chelsea building?
